The Belin Quartet was established in the year 2000 by a grant to the Civic Music Association by the Iowa Foundation for Education, Environment, and the Arts, a charitable foundation created by David Belin. His vision that the whole community should have the opportunity to share the joys of classical music is realized through the Belin String Quartet. The Belin Quartet will play a series of free noon-time concerts on summer Fridays in downtown Des Moines. The 2007 Series will debut on Friday, May 25 at 12:15 p.m., and continue ten weeks each Friday. Concerts will take place at Nollen Plaza (on the corner of Third Street and Locust Street, across from the Civic Center) or the Downtown Library Lawn, weather permitting. In the event of rain, concerts originally scheduled for Nollen Plaza will move to the Kirkwood Lobby and concerts originally scheduled for the Downtown Library Lawn will move inside the library. All concerts are free and open to the public. For more information about the Civic Music Association please contact us at 515-280-4020, email at info@civicmusic.org or visit our web site http://www.civicmusic.org/. David Belin(1928-1999) |
